Our Impacts

Creating spaces where people can feel, speak, and heal.

At Unmask Initiative, our work is guided by a simple belief: when people understand their emotions, feel safe to express themselves, and find supportive communities, healing and growth become possible.

Through our programs in emotional literacy, storytelling, and community wellness, we are creating spaces where people of all ages can explore their emotions, share their experiences, and connect with others more meaningfully.

Though still growing, our early projects have already begun creating meaningful impact in schools, communities, and online spaces.

Hidden Stories Project

The Hidden Stories Project was created as a safe, anonymous platform where individuals can share personal experiences, emotions, and reflections that are often kept private.

Through written submissions and creative expression, the project invites people to speak about the realities behind the masks we often wear in everyday life.

So far, the project has received over 30 anonymous story submissions, each reflecting unique experiences with emotions, identity, relationships, personal struggles, and healing.

These stories have helped spark important conversations and remind readers that many of the feelings people carry privately are more common than they realize.

The project continues to grow as more individuals find the courage to share their stories and connect through shared experiences.

Voices of Tomorrow: School Outreach Pilot

One of our earliest initiatives was the Voices of Tomorrow Project, a child-focused emotional literacy program designed to help young students understand their feelings, express themselves, and build emotional awareness through creative learning.

During our pilot outreach, we reached 100 Primary 4 students across three schools in Lagos:

  • Alubarika Primary School
  • Temple Primary School
  • SLG Primary School

We also engaged over 8 teachers, introducing them to the importance of emotional awareness in the classroom and encouraging conversations around students’ feelings and wellbeing. Through storytelling, guided discussions, and creative activities like drawing and colouring, students explored topics such as:

  • recognizing and naming emotions
  • expressing feelings in healthy ways
  • listening and empathizing with others
  • understanding that emotions are a natural part of life

For many students, this was their first structured opportunity to talk openly about their feelings in a school environment.

We touch lives with positive impacts
